A flexible terminal system to support business diversification

Messina Line project manager Mario Liguori wanted a smarter way to manage the business as he set his sights on diversification. Messina wanted to achieve a single picture of their information so that they could record and track every transaction through the port, and therefore make smarter decisions about their operations, faster. However, selecting a TOS to suit Messina’s specific requirements wasn’t straightforward. 90 percent of Messina’s fleet comprised RORO vessels and the majority of TOS’s aren’t geared to manage the complex mixed cargo that these vessels ship.

Master Terminal TOS

Messina chose Master Terminal after evaluating a number of vendors, because of Master Terminal’s support of multi cargo which matched Messina’s operations. Jade Logistics’ proven methodology smoothed implementation and before Go Live, Messina established a ‘test room’ where Master Terminal was put through its paces and tested on handhelds, tablets, and vehicular PCs.

Messina Line closes information gaps

With Master Terminal, Messina captures a single view of its entire operation and works more efficiently. Information gaps have been filled because every transaction is captured and managed in Master Terminal. Liguori said the new visibility had made Messina more competitive.
